Jaye's teaching is a synthesis of her many years of training & experience in
contemporary dance, dance/movement therapy, meditation therapy, yoga,
embodied anatomy, somatic movement, contemplative arts & deep ecology.
The therapeutic emphasis of Jaye's teaching offers students an opportunity for
supported somatic self-inquiry & embodied transformation.
Jaye's practice is infused with sensitivity, creativity, compassion & humour.

Restorative Yoga is a practice dedicated to constructive rest & mindful embodiment. It is a deeply nourishing, gentle & transformative yoga practice. Jaye's somatic approach offers a therapeutic embodied experience that is both nurturing & educational.
Somatic Meditation is a practice of direct sensory engagement with the anatomical systems of the body. It facilitates deep release into the restorative asana & restores the body's ability to self-regulate. Students are guided to develop key somatic skills that enable rest to become restorative.
Jaye encourages compassionate self-inquiry & self-care. Individual adjustments & customised variations are offered ensure that the practice meets & supports every body in the room.
This class is open to all levels.

Restorative Yoga nourishes both the physical & metaphysical aspects of the heart to restore organ tone & recover the wisdom of loving-kindness.
Jaye incorporates Somatic Meditation into her yoga teaching to activate the processes that enable 'rest' to become 'restorative'. Mindfully attending to the heart supports us in moving towards more compassionate, courageous & sustainable ways of living & being.
At this weekend retreat you will explore the embodied anatomy & consciousness of your own heart through restorative yoga, somatic meditation, bodywork, writing & drawing.
You will also be nourished by nature walks in the Tallarook Forest, wholesome vegetarian food & heart-expanding views out across the eastern ranges.
This retreat is suitable for people with some yoga experience. All levels welcome.

Jaye Hayes is a dance artist, writer, researcher, educator & creative facilitator with 25+ years experience in yoga, movement, meditation & contemplative arts. Her training includes Contemporary Dance, Dance-Movement Therapy & Iyengar Yoga. She is currently pursuing Body-Mind Centering® certification & Masters in Arts Therapy.
Jaye is a chronic illness warrior living with ME/CFS & has dedicated her life to somatic practice/research & the pursuit of embodied knowledge. She is passionate about supporting others by sharing yogic, somatic & creative practices for cultivating a mindfully embodied life.

DANCE/MOVEMENT: Jaye has a BCA Hons in Dance, (Deakin University) & has also studied Dance Movement Therapy (IDTIA) & Laban Movement Psychology (CPA).SOMATICS: Jaye has 14 years experience in Body-Mind Centering® practice, training with Alice Cummins, (Melbourne), Sarah Menger (Berlin) & Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen (USA). In 2017 she commenced BMC Certification training at Moving Within (USA).
YOGA/MEDITATION: Jaye has been practicing yoga and meditation for more than 25 years and teaching for more than 10 years. She completed Iyengar Yoga teacher training courses with Alan Goode (Yoga Mandir) & Peter Scott (Yoga Jivana), but her journey with chronic illness led her to focus on the remedial side of the practice & to specialise in Restorative and Recovery Yoga.
CREATIVE ARTS THERAPY: Jaye is currently integrating her somatic movement & contemplative arts practice with a Masters in Creative Arts Therapy at MIECAT.

DEEP REST workshops include Restorative Yoga & Somatic Meditation plus soothing Somatic Sound the hands on support of Somatic Bodywork.
DEEP REST workshops offer a sanctuary for rest & rejuvenation, as a counterpoint to the constant stress of busy lives or as a support for fatigue or illness.
RESTORATIVE YOGA is a gentle & transformative yoga practice. Yoga props are used extensively to create a fully supported practice that allows students to soften into the poses, receive the flow of breath & reconnect with the earth.
SOMATIC PRACTICES include meditation, sound, movement & touch to awaken embodied consciousness & create a deeply nourishing experience. Jaye will guide you to discover the key somatic skills that enable rest to become restorative.
DEEP REST workshops will support your body to reset, re-balance & recover its vitality.
